I met this artist
with his resolute work via the internet, not long ago .
Rapidly I became impressed with the way he handles stuff.
Although it will be a matter of taste whether or not you
will like his work, the way in which he is able to create
something that will amaze you with simple means is amazing.
Kris Manalien is
a 52 year old European spiritual artist living on the south
west coastal England. He was born in 1952 to an English
father and a Belgian mother and was educated in London.
He attended Chelsea School of art, has had a number of minor
exhibitions many years ago, appeared in magazines and on
TV.
Kris
about himself:
I am an artist who likes to
create objects that visually appeal on an aesthetic level.
I like to work with natural materials as I find that this
breathes life into the pieces that I create. My work is
fuelled by my love of all things, mystical and spiritual.
Take a look at my wands and they will transport you to the
Lord of the Rings instantly.
I am also inspired by my love
of the ocean; I am a scuba diving ‘Frogman’ and just love
to spend time underneath the waves in my vintage diving
gear. This too
influences a good deal of my work, like for instance ‘King
of the nautilus’ a large shell I carved and polished and
set with jewels and gold and even carved the tendrils from
selenite rock and set them to cause the shell to look as
if it is alive. See the pearls on the rear section of the
shell, how they appear to look like tiny air bubbles
coming out of tiny holes in the shell.
I like my work to produce a
‘feel good’ factor in those that see it, creating pieces
of fantasy that transport you away to where you would rather
be. I work a great deal with the mineral selenite as this
mineral holds light like no other, and in most pieces I
incorporate crystal diode lighting, which fills them with
static or slowly changing colours. This makes them wonderful
items for use in meditation. No pieces are actually planned
and I make no sketches either. I will meditate on an image
and simply create something from whatever I see in my minds
eye, just take the tools and materials and let my hands
do the work to please my eye.
Metaphysical dome.
Apart from the artwork you can
see here in Hans' website I have grander plans for some
of the pieces I create. In particularly the pieces where
I cross the borders between art and science, and merge them
into something that is beyond both realms. I feel that I
have truly achieved this other realm type of work in a number
of pieces, in particular the most extraordinarily interactive
natural crystal and laser wand.
My plan would be for a special
building to be constructed for the use of this metaphysical
tool. The building would be a circular, domed structure
approximately 7 metres high and 7 metres diameter. Inside
the internal walls and dome would all be brilliant white,
the circular floor would be mirror, and there would be seating
structures all around the circumference. These would be
constructed from thick crystal clear Perspex; so all the
interior surfaces would show the qualities of the crystal
laser wand most brilliantly.
The dome would seat 50-60 people
who would sit around the circumference and wait to be transported
into another kaleidoscopic universe of cosmic light. There
would be a laser for every colour of the spectrum hidden
in the walls and these would be
turned on and all converge on one single point. The people
in the room would each take turns to interact with the wand.
Meditational music would be played and then someone would
take the wand and move centre stage and simply start moving
the wand up and down and round and round in the path of
the laser beams.
Suddenly from only a few laser
beams shooting at the wand, due to the very precise construction
of the wand, the wand would then break these few laser beams
into hundreds and hundreds shafts of light that would emit
as the lasers mingle with the different crystals on the
wand. Each one to reveal its own unique light signature
and projects this outward in an amazing multicoloured moving
pattern of ethereal light. The slightest movement of the
wand creates a spectacle which is much faster, so the slower
the better.
The holder will see light bending
in front of his eyes as the lasers not only project from
the wand but also create cascading multicoloured spirals
of light that shoot up and down the whole body of the wand.
Then a little smoke is introduced and the beams emitting
from the wand actually manifest in three dimensions and
the holder and the onlookers are transported into a uniquely
spiritual experience.
When I have given the odd demonstration
even in just an ordinary room, people will stay till the
early hours of the morning and just cannot put the wand
down, and all report feeling wonderful for days after.
For now I wish you to have a
few happy moments with this splendid art page.
