In
May 2005, my wife and I went to the United States and visited
the Hopi People, one of the North American indigenous tribes.
We were invited by Mr. Thomas Banyacya Jr., to his home in
Kykotsmovi, AZ, and visited with him and his wife for more
than 1½ hours. One of the subjects we discussed was
the message that the Hopi People have to tell the world as
a whole.
Thomas' father has
been travelling the globe for many years to present these
words to a great number of world leaders and through them
to the world. From him I received the expressed consent to
share the messages from his father in particular, and those
of the Hopi People in general, to you, reader. I am especially
grateful for this.
The next day we unexpectedly
experienced a tour by a proud local police officer through
Walpi, the oldest Hopi village in existence. This village
on Second Mesa is a place where white people are not generally
welcomed. Later that day we attended a 'Chu'tiva', the 'snake
dance', one of the most important ceremonies in the Hopi spiritual
year.
In this index, dedicated
to the Native Peoples of North America, a number of texts
and other material is presented - the inheritance of several
of the peoples. Other than texts by the Hopi, there are other
tribes represented such as the Navajo, Nez Pierce, Lakota
etc.
